Some letters from our
mailbox...
- This has been an answer to
prayer. To be able to travel and meet new friends and homeschoolers too. What a wonderful idea for ministry! May our
Lord Jesus richly bless your efforts as you bring glory to
Him in this endeavor.
- We just want to thank you
for your great idea: "HOME TO HOME." This year we were back
in the States for 4 months. Once HOME TO HOME saved us when
we had a booking fall through and no place to stay. The
family we stayed with was so gracious and lovely. We had a
wonderful time. I wanted to share with you some of the good
stuff of what you do. Thanks.
- We were delighted with the
(family that visited us). If this is a sample of the type of
persons involved with HOME TO HOME, we're excited to be a
part of the adventure. Our guests were considerate, quiet,
very neat and clean and we profited from our fellowship with
this father and son.
- I have been meaning to write
you a personal letter and encourage you in what you are
doing in helping to create in Christians an awareness of
being hospitable.
Thank you for your work coordinating HOME TO HOME. It has
been a blessing to us to have Christian families to stay
with all over the country. 1997 took us to one home in
Florida and 2 in Indiana. We were received with graciousness
and made to feel right at home. Loved it so much. Have
invited them all to Montana.
- Hi! Allow me to praise the
job you are doing with HOME TO HOME. I think it is a
wonderful program and we really like being members. Last
year, our first, we hosted one family and enjoyed it so
much.
I write to say how wonderful an experience we had last month
using HOME TO HOME for the first time. By the grace of God &
HOME TO HOME, we were able to take a 2 week trip to visit my
husband's parents, other relatives and sights along the way.
They (parents) live in Arkansas and we live in Oregon. We
stayed with 3 different families on the way there and 2
different families on the way back. All were very gracious,
giving & sharing. What an encouraging experience. Much nicer
to meet other Christian families around the states and
share, than to spend nights in a campground or park. We
spent 2 nights at 2 different people's home at their
invitation so that we could arrive at night, sight-see the
next day in the city they lived in and then returned to
spend the night again before leaving in the early a.m. Very
helpful!
- We really enjoyed using HOME
TO HOME this summer. Our stays with other directory members
were wonderful, it was like stopping in to see good friends.
The families were very warm, loving, friendly, and
hospitable. Staying with them was the highlight of our
vacation. I think that this is such a wonderful thing that I
can't understand why thousands of more Christian families
aren't involved. May the Lord richly bless you and multiply
your efforts greatly.
- We had a lovely family come
to spend the night from Arkansas on their way to Washington.
They also happened to be our very first guests since joining
HOME TO HOME last summer and we were delighted as they were
and we were equally blessed. Just had to share the good
experience and tremendous joy that both my husband & I felt
in giving Christian hospitality.
- Thanks for such a neat
opportunity we had in May to stay with 2 families. We are so
glad we joined. We were warmly welcomed and appreciate
comments in the booklet about ways to make guests feel
comfortable. The one couple took our picture and had a
family picture to give us. That was great too!
When we joined the HOME TO HOME ministry about a year ago,
it was primarily with the intent of hosting families in our
home. With the relocation of our daughter and her family to
the East coast, however, opportunity arose for us to make a
scenic fall trip across country and at the same time take
advantage of the opportunity to use the hospitality of HOME
TO HOME families. We have nothing but praise to offer to you
and to the families who opened their homes and hearts to us.
We were treated like a king and queen (together with our
16-year-old princess in two of the homes) and at the same
time made to feel so comfortable. We stayed in homes in
Nebraska, Ohio, Kentucky, and Kansas and each time
experienced the true meaning of Christian hospitality. To
God be the glory for such wonderful children of His as we
met. Prior to our trip, we had been privileged to host two
families for a total of five nights. Because of our
experiences on the road, we are reinvigorated to afford
those staying with us the best we possibly can. Thank you so
much for your efforts. May God touch and bless all that you
do.
- We'd like to report to you
how blessed our family was by the ministry of HOME TO HOME.
The Lord laid the idea of a family spring break vacation to
Florida on my heart. We all needed a break from the
Wisconsin cold and our teenagers really needed something to
look forward to with the whole family, apart from the grind
of public school. We're a family of seven on limited
resources. I had forgotten that I'd enrolled in HOME TO HOME
last fall and had to search for the directory. My husband
was skeptical but willing to try it out. We were so blessed!
We stayed in Georgia and our hosts bent over backwards for
us. Then we stayed two night near Orlando. What a joy to see
this family with eleven children. They made us delicious
breakfasts and desserts. We felt like we really made friends
through our visits. I just hope that we are able to
reciprocate the hospitality and fellowship.
- Let me tell you how thrilled
we were with the folk you arranged for D. to stay in
California. The G.'s dramatically changed our thoughts about
Americans. If they are a sample of the quality folk you have
in HOME TO HOME then you surely will be blessed. That is the
way the Father planned for the family to look after each
other. We thank God for putting in place such a wonderful
organization as HOME TO HOME.
Early in 1995 there was much discussion in our home in
Washington about a cross-country trip to Pennsylvania. A's
92-year-old mother would be selling most of her household
items, and we desired to be there. We discussed mode of
travel and finally decided driving would be most practical.
One month before we were due to leave one of our co-workers
saw an ad for an organization called HOME TO HOME. It was
designed for families to open their homes to traveling
families. We decided to take a step of faith and join the
organization. We called and learned that we were the first
to try HOME TO HOME. The trip was a wonderful experience - a
real adventure! We thought of Abraham's servant in Genesis,
when he said, "...I being in the way, the Lord led me..." On
the trip East we stayed with two families, one in Ogden,
Utah and one near Topeka, Kansas. Other stops were with
relatives and one motel. On the trip home we spent four of
the five nights with families in Iowa, South Dakota,
Wyoming, and Montana. We are so grateful to the Lord for the
privilege of meeting these families and for their kind
hospitality. What an encouragement to see other families
desiring to raise their children in the "fear and admonition
of the Lord." Would we travel this way again? We four
unanimously vote, "Yes!" It was one of the best trips we've
ever taken. We believe HOME TO HOME will be a help and
blessing to many. We are looking forward to visits from
families in our home.
